Bugle falls silent

It's a great shame when you just don't have the time to think. Work is so busy that it takes over your life and then the little things that bring enjoyment go out of the window. Bishops Offley Bugle has suffered from a lack of attention on my part and a lack of contributors and contributions on your part, dear readers (all three of you).

There's much to write about in our lovely little hamlet: the coming and passing of the seasons, wildlife wonders, local events - particularly on the Millennium Green, local gossip, the state of buildings that are falling down, not to mention sections that have been hijacked by unscrupulous lawyers seeking to sell their velocipedes!

So, what's the answer? The answer is ...

Well, speaking for this end of the village, it's only in the past week or so that it's been possible to chip the ice off the keyboard.

But by the way, the Bishop and his lady were recently watching an episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, where the action centred on a community in Arkansas, with population of just over 300. Less than Bishops Offley! And yet they were able to rally round and come together in the cause of building a new home for the family of a very sick ten-year-old. OK, the TV network did all the heavy lifting, but the whole village was there. I like to think we would be, in a similar situation...
